Note: While the software is classified as free, it is actually donationware. Theres a command line utility /usr/sbin/installer you can use to install. BatChmod allows you to change any specific privilege or ownership without affecting the others (ie, changing the group without affecting the owner, or adding or removing a specific privilege without affecting all the others). Afterwards, I restored it to another partition to see. When I use 'Get info' to view the folder properties, the Sharing Permissions part shows 'You have custom access' but there is no list of users, or no padlock shown. 1 Answer Sorted by: 1 Youre making things hard on yourself, I think. I made a backup image of my OS X using Disk Utility and saved it to a partition on an external drive. Click Repair Disk Permissions to check for problems and automatically fix them. I filed a bug with apple a while ago, because I think the UI is keying the permissions by file name, but the security permission is keyed by file hash, as sometimes it seems like the permission is allowed in the UI, but it isn't really set. Click the Verify Disk Permissions button if you’d like to check your permissions for problems. One thing you can try, is to go into the permission settings, and remove all the permissions. Select your Mac’s system partition generally Macintosh HD. This only happens for some folders/files others are editable and deletable. To open it, press Command + Space to open Spotlight search, type Disk Utility, and press Enter. I’m using Mac OS X installer command to install. That has recently stopped and when I try to delete some folders or files I get the 'Operation can't be completed. I’ve got a metapackage file program.mpkg. The music system HD is visible in Finder and, for the past 6 years or so that I've had it, I've been able to add or delete files (and edit metadata) using the Mac. I am trying to delete files stored on a music system (NAD M50/52) on my network using a Mac (OS Sierra 10.12.6). ![]()
